Generally, professions can include: Accountants, Architects, Barristers, Chartered Surveyors, Dentists, Medical Doctors, Pilots, Solicitors & Vets.

If you work in any of these industries and are fully qualified and registered with the authorising body, you may be able to borrow up to 6x your annual salary. The standard income multiple used for most UK mortgage lenders is generally 4.5x your annual salary, so this increase can make a HUGE difference.

This is offered to these professions as it’s generally accepted that once qualified, these are professions which see individuals experience consistent & rapid increases in salary & overall earnings, so the mortgage lender can confidently lend more to these individuals due to their higher career earning potential.

A professional mortgage can help if you’ve found a home that you might have considered as out of your reach due to affordability issues. The higher income multiple of 6x your salary often means you can borrow more, meaning a property you might have deemed out of reach, may all of a sudden look achievable.
